Today’s word of the day is edifice.

Nouns are words that we use to name things. It can be a person, a place, a thing, an
idea or concept. Therefore, edifice is a noun.

Edifice has two meanings. Firstly it is a large, imposing building. Secondly it is a complex system of beliefs.

An example of the word edifice used in a sentence would be:

The headquarters is a huge edifice located in the city centre.

Or, This book details the ideology on which the edifice of socialism was built.

Synonyms: building, structure, premises, complex, establishment.
