Ms. Sonya Bird, Director of International Standards for Underwriters Laboratories and US representative to the IEC Standardization Management Board (SMB), sits down with us to talk about her journey from a US-based standards project manager to a global influencer of standards, and she shares advice for individuals who are beginning their involvement in standards development.  She shares insights on the value of standards and standardization, and addresses the need for research to support standards.  Sonya also talks about the importance of diversity in standards, and in particular the opportunities for standards developers to consider gender-responsive standards.
