Listen "Addressing Social al inequities in higher education and social Justice with Jordan Davis"
Episode Synopsis
We often hear the phrase: what sort of a future a we leaving for the next generation? Or what sort of example are we setting for them to follow? When we examine the black experience in education, student success and social justice the answer is we still have a long way to go.
Sometimes going straight to the source and hearing from the people who are in the trenches is the best way to recalibrate our focus and attention on this issue. Jordan Davis would be a solid place to start when looking to have a conversation. He’s a education speaker and Graduate Associate at the Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship at Georgetown University. Having earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communication at McDaniel College, Jordan combines interpersonal communication skills and critical theory to address social inequities in higher education. Student success, social justice in education, and public speaking instruction are all topics that Jordan is well-versed in, and has spoken about these subjects as a TEDx speaker and keynote presenter for organizations like PBS and K-12. Aside from his work, Jordan loves documentary films, professional sports, and traveling throughout the eastern US, and proudly calls the DMV his home. He joined me this week to tell me more.
