I'm your host, Autumn J. Rountree. For this up and coming podcast series, I'll be providing ways to connect with God. This includes prayers, scripture readings, and Christian literature. I'm going to begin this episode by offering a quick prayer to everyone who's tuning in to the channel. Dear God, please bless this online podcasting program and allow all those who are listening to it feel the power and the spirit of Your word. You are the one true living God who envisions and makes all things possible. Please guide us in our personal yet spiritual journeys with You in mind as we devote our time in learning what's good and wonderful for us. Amen and Amen. I'm now going to read out some enlightening Bible verses you should be aware of. Psalms 119 verse 70, Their heart is as fat as grease, but I delight in thy law. In other words, the scripture is saying that a human being's heart is as nasty and ugly and despicable as grease, and he or she are only fulfilled by worldliness. But from a first person's narrative, the author was announcing that he was very appreciative of praising the Lord and following his law more than anyone or anything else. Number 2 -Exodus 20 verse 7, You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain. Basically this scripture is saying that you shouldn't swear by his name or take it upon yourself to express discontentment by using his name and a light regard. Furthermore, using phrases like Oh My Goodness, Jeez, and the commonly used one, OMG, may be offensive to the Lord. Number 3 - Proverbs 16 verse 2, All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes, but the Lord weigheth the spirits. Loosely speaking, people can justify their own actions based on anything that they do, but God always has the final say if whether or not their ways are pleasing enough to him. Number 4 - Deuteronomy 8 verse 18, Remember the Lord your God, He is the one who gives you power to be successful in order to fulfill the covenant. As an expansion, this means you must remember the Lord. He has enabled you to have access to things like wealth and power and has proved to us that His covenant is available only because of an oath He has certified with our descendants. Number 5 - Numbers 14 verse 18, He doesn't excuse the guilty, He lays the sins of the parents upon their children, the entire family is affected. As an end result, this passage means that God is all forgiving to any act of sin, but He won't forget the guilty. He will judge and punish them all according to what they have done as well as the transgressors own children and each of their grandchildren thereof. Number 6 - Psalms 119 verse 39, Turn away my reproach which I fear, for the judgments are good. From what I gathered, this passage is saying that anything a person does that they're embarrassed or ashamed about should be asking God to forgive them and turn the problem away. He or she should also pray that any fear of scorning or harassment that could possibly come from his or her enemies should be completely overridden by the Lord's grace. The narrator has also mentioned that he knew that God's decrees in which he respects are always upstanding. Number 7 -Power 15 verse 31, If you listen to constructive criticism you will be at home among the wise. From what I understand, this scripture means that if someone hears something insightful they should adhere and stick to what was said because then they would be considerably nimble. Number 8 -Corinthians 12 verse 11, It is the one and only spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have. As this reads, the Lord serves many different men and women with their own talents, but each person should respectfully accept them and not brag upon which ones would make them better than someone else. Number 9 -Proverbs 27 verse 7, For full soul loatheth and honeycomb, but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet. I believe this means that if someone is full of greed and abundance of things they will not be easily fulfilled with honey as much as a person who is starving for such either because they don't have enough honey or nothing like it at all. Number 10, Proverbs 16 verse 9, in his heart a man plans his course but the Lord determines his steps. I've concluded that this scripture means that someone can choose what they want to do or go in life but God will always show that person the path he or she should be going or leading. Number 11, Proverbs 4 verse 25, let thine eyes look right on and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. Collectively speaking, this means keep your eyes open and alert to what's right and just. Also keep everything going in the same direction which would be your eyelids. Be very conscientious of what's good at all times. I came across some intriguing Bible verses on ChristianPost.com that should be resourceful to anybody that needs help during a crisis or times of stress. The brief article suggested at least 7 uplifting Bible verses when you're going through hard times. Number 1, Psalms 119 verses 67-68, before I was afflicted I went astray but now I keep your word. You are good and do good, teach me your statutes. Number 2, Isaiah 55 verse 6, seek the Lord while he may be found, call upon him while he is near. Number 3, Psalms 34 verse 17, when the righteous cry for help the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. Number 4, 2 Corinthians 9 verse 8, and God is able to make all grace abound to you so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times you may abound in every good work. Number 5, Colossians 1 verse 13. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved son. Number 6, Proverbs 3 verses 5-6, trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make straight your paths. The 7th verse was a repeat so I won't read that one out loud, but in the meantime you can leave a message below about what you think this program meant to you. I will be returning in my next podcast starting with semi-monthly talks about other Christian commentary to listen and comment to along with different Bible verses to help uplift your scriptural life.
