Listen "Dr. Jemar Tisby: The Faithful Pursuit of Justice"
Episode Synopsis
So honored to have the brilliant Dr. Jemar Tisby for this conversation around what it looks like to faithfully engage the topic of racism and justice as Christ followers in America.
Dr. Tisby’s book The Color of Compromise (2019) has been formative for me and is one that I consider required reading for anyone who is serious about deeply engaging with their faith— because these issues involve everyone, not just one group of people.
We talk about Christians’ ideas of individual vs. systemic issues, historical continuity and how things years past have informed the American Church today, and what chapters he would add to his book now having lived through the last few years.
Jemar Tisby is the author of the New York Times bestselling book, The Color of Compromise: The Truth about the Church's Complicity in Racism, How to Fight Racism, and How to Fight Racism: Young Reader's Edition. Jemar is the co-host of the "Pass the Mic" podcast. He speaks nationwide on the topics of racial justice, U.S. history and Christianity. Jemar earned his PhD in history and he studies race, religion, and social movements in the 20th century. You can follow his work through his newsletter, Footnotes, and on social media at @JemarTisby.
