In todays episode I am joined by Doug Cameron, Board Advisor, Inventor, and Biotechnology thought leader. We explore Doug’s early influences, his early love of science, growing up with a zest for life in a supportive family environment. We explored his first job working at an early stage AgriTech start up, that really cemented his love and passion for entrepreneurship and the possibility and promise of industrial biotech. He speaks about the emergence of biotech, and working with some real icons in the field during his postdoc at MIT. He discusses his journey as a professor, and some of his work in microbial engineering, and the creation of 1.3 propanediol which was commercialized and bought to market as an eco-efficient performance fibre. He speaks about moving to Cargill with a blank sheet of paper, to build the worlds best industrial biotech group, and subsequent moves as an investor in early stage businesses within industrial biotech. He outlines his mantra for life, and the excitement for the future of biotechnology and the its impact in creating a healthier world
