Listen "“I Live For Me”"
Episode Synopsis
Living for yourself and not other people. New episode art because this image represents this episode really well. It represents more than just what meets the eye, it represents my Vietnamese heritage as well as the American society that I grew up and spent most of my life in, both of which played an essential role in shaping me into the person that I am today. Train tracks in America helped to facilitate international trade and shift us into a more industrial society, and the outfit l'm wearing is my traditional "Ao Dai." which translates to "Long Shirt." This is the same outfit that my mother wore at her wedding, so it not only represents my culture, but also my family's love and legacy. Growing up, I would've never had the confidence to wear this in public, but l've realized that this culture is huge part of who I am and where I come from so I should be proud of it. Today I'm proud to be a representation of my parents' hand work and determination, proud to be a first-generation American and proud that I am both Vietnamese and an American.
