Listen "Man shoots knife-wielding intruder in Mayfair, police say"
Episode Synopsis
Philadelphia police say no charges are being filed against a man who shot a knife-wielding intruder last night in Mayfair.
Detectives say it was around 11:30 p.m. when a 28-year-old man with a knife kicked in the back door of a house in the 7200 block of Walker Street, near Cottman Avenue. A man inside the home fired at the intruder, striking him in the chest and stomach. He was taken to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital, where he's in critical condition.
The District Attorney's Office reviewed the case and declined to file charges against the shooter, saying his actions were in self-defense. Police say the man who was shot faces charges, including aggravated assault and making terroristic threats.
