Listen "Man arrested after grabbing 14-year-old girl at Upper Merion bus stop, police say"
Episode Synopsis
Police in Montgomery County are praising a quick-thinking teenager for what she did during a scary situation at the bus stop.
The Upper Merion High School student was waiting along Jefferson Street in Swedesburg Tuesday morning when cops say a guy walked up to her and grabbed her arm.
She freed herself, ran for it, and immediately called for help. The 14-year-old was able to describe the attacker, as were witnesses.
Police arrested him just a third of a mile away. The 36-year-old Norristown man is being held on charges of disorderly conduct and harassment.
Investigators say the girl "did a fantastic job" in running and calling for help right away. They're encouraging parents to share this story with their kids as a reminder to be alert of their surroundings.
