Sayani Das is presently doing her Ph.D. in Anthropology from Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, India. Her doctoral research work is focused on elderly health among the rural elderly population of West Bengal. She also completed her M.Phil. in Anthropology from the University of Delhi, Delhi. During M.Phil. days, gerontology evoked her keen interest, and she worked on the elderly population of Haryana, North India.Sayani’s research work is based on frailty syndrome among community-dwelling older adults. In India, only a handful of studies have focused exclusively on this aspect, but she believes that from the viewpoint of future demographic changes in India there is an urgent need to examine all the consequences and pathways of this geriatric syndrome.In 2019, she received the best poster award in Medical Gerontology from the Association of Gerontology India. She has presented papers at several seminars and has published research papers.
