Erick du Toit brings this week's reflection from Kirkliston Parish Church, Scotland.DISCOURAGED Elijah was afraid and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there, while he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life… (1 Kings 19: 3-4b)Have you ever been so discouraged that you just wanted things to end?Well, then you’re in good company!Even the greatest of prophets from the Bible felt deflated and empty from time to time. In Sunday’s passage we’re reminded that life is full of challenges. That’s the reality of being human! But we should always know that no matter what we face, our heavenly Father is there to feed and nurture us, even when we don’t FEEL his presence…he WILL provide exactly what we need for the journey ahead…
