Episode Synopsis
Until recently, Dr Walter Eppich was professor of pediatrics and medical education at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. Since November 1, 2020 he is professor of simulation education and research at the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland, a medical and health sciences university in Dublin.His research initially started in the area of healthcare simulation with a particular focus on debriefing or the types of learning conversations that people would have after a simulated encounter. Recently, as part of his PHD journey, his research has become very focused not only on these learning conversations and educational settings but also the synergies with workplace conversations and their intrinsic learning potential.
