The Federal electorate of Gilmore stretches from Kiama in the north to Moruya in the south, taking in Nowra, Ulladulla, and many coastal and rural communities in between. Over 164,000 people call this diverse electorate home — including young families, retirees, First Nations communities, small business owners, students, and health professionals. The Kiama LGA represents about 14% of the population of Gilmore and only 4% of the area. There are 8 candidates in total running for election. Four of them have made their intentions clear for some months now and KCR has interviewed them already to try to get a sense of who they are as people, and you can hear podcasts of these interviews. The other 4 candidates have entered the race too late to be included in this process. We’ve posed the same set of questions to each candidate — questions shaped by the real concerns of local people; eight questions in advance and a couple at the end without notice. We’ve given each candidate 2 minutes as a guideline to reply, but allowed the interviewees to finish their thoughts rather than cut them off mid sentence . Each response are played here side by side, so you can clearly hear how the candidates’ policies and priorities compare. We’ve divided the questions up so you can listen to the ones relevant to you if you don’t want to listen to them all.
