Send us a textUnderstanding biblical basics is necessary for anyone desiring to know Jesus.  Many professing Christians have very little knowledge of the New Testament much less the Old Testament really causing them to miss out on many cool things.  One area of understanding that helps clarify the Scriptures is the nation Israel.  Jacob, whose name was changed by God to Israel, is the father of the nation Israel and the Jews.  Understanding who he was and the covenants made with his family can give us a better understanding of the Law (God's covenant with Israel) and the New Covenant (God's covenant with all humanity).
