Listen "How Political News Affects Our Students"
Episode Synopsis
Hi everyone, and welcome back to JumpStart. My name is Kim Venegas, and though I generally steer clear of the political issues that plague us, I do want to tell you the story of Larry. As we approach a presidential election cycle, one that may resemble the one from 2016, Larry’s story is important. Larry was a fourth grader in 2015. As the candidates debated and spoke to the people, Larry heard several comments directed toward t his family. Larry was Mexican American, born in the United States after his family arrived. His parents did not have citizenship papers. Our children, our students, they hear the news...and it often worries them.
