I challenge the Web 3 industry which largely accepts that the future is "multichain" and "cross-chain" by Firstly representing an argument that there is a nonzero chance for the competition between smart contract platforms as we know them today to be a zero-sum game for adoption and use ....
Then I challenge that "if" the competition between l1's could be zero-sum... then the blind acceptance for a cross-chain & multichain future acts as a potentially dangerous cognitive bias for engineering decisions....
I also give a third option that's nuanced differently than a "multichain" future as its purported ... where all the current thought of major Web 3 use-cases could be zero-sum, gravitating towards a single highly competent & linear scalable distributed ledger, but that other l1's may mutate to facilitate smaller market and unique use-cases that a single adopted highly competent & linear scalable distributed ledger "might" not be able to ....
