Listen "18. Aum's Journey: Unmasking identity"
Episode Synopsis
Hi, I’m Krutika, and today’s conversation is with my brother, Aum.
Even though he’s seven years younger than me, his ability to pause, reflect, and carry a sense of self-awareness has been something I've quietly admired - especially because I know it's a practice he's worked hard to cultivate.
So, in this episode we sit down to talk about his journey unmasking identity.
He spent his early years in India, before moving to the UK at the age of nine. The culture shock, the sense of being sidelined, and an initial struggle to fit in - fuelled his desire to belong. For a while, that meant trying to embrace being British until he realised, he’s also Indian! It’s a struggle I know many British Indians, and people from other minority backgrounds, can relate to, me included.
In our conversation, we explore what identity means to him and shine a light on both the challenges and the beauty of embracing dual cultures.
So often, we move through life without pausing to think about the building blocks that make us who we are. This conversation really made me stop and reflect on my own identity and it may just do the same for you!
