New York city will require companies to post pay ranges for job openings starting in May of 2022. California is one of 21 states that have already passed a salary history ban so hiring companies can’t ask candidates what they make. Today, we talk about pay transparency laws and salary history bans and their impact on the job market. Both legislative strategies are part of the movement for a more equitable pay system, helping all workers but especially women and people of color.
