Jesus demonstrated the power of forgiveness through His actions and teachings, most profoundly when He forgave those who crucified Him, saying, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do” (Luke 23:34). Catholics believe that forgiveness is not only a gift from God but also a responsibility of every Christian. Through the Sacrament of Reconciliation, the faithful receive God's mercy and are called to forgive others as Christ forgives them.
