Listen "Multiple Identities = Multiple Sources of Threat & Belonging"
Episode Synopsis
The Department of Psychology and the Jepson School of Leadership Studies present Dr. Sarah Gaither for a discussion on “Multiple Identities = Multiple Sources of Threat & Belonging.” We all have multiple identities—race, gender, age, sexual orientation, occupation, etc. However, social scientific research has traditionally focused on the effects stemming from one identity (i.e., race OR gender). Professor Gaither presents research that pushes the existing notions of identity research to be more inclusive of multiple identification. She is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology & Neuroscience, and a faculty affiliate for the Samuel DuBois Cook Center on Social Equity, the Center on Health and Society, and the Population Research Institute at Duke University.
