Matthew Henry's Commentary says this about Eve, who was made from Adam in the Garden, “Not made out of his head to rule over Him, nor out of his feet to be trampled upon by him, but out of his side to be equal with him, under his arm to be protected, and near his heart to be beloved."
This study is intended to give a Biblical foundation of what a wife looks like in the eyes of the Lord. Part of her role as a wife is submission to her husband. This easily misquoted and misunderstood verse needs careful context and consideration as husbands and wives work together to mutually honor God the Father.
