Kim Charles got married hoping for the usual marriage, kids, the whole dream. But after years of trying to get pregnant, the stress and heartbreak took a toll, and the marriage ended. That’s when she turned back to running. She told her running buddy, Mary Raines that it was time to make new friends and had seen the  Varsity group running around the lakes. She decided that was where she was going to make her new friends - never realizing would become lifelong friends – a new kind of family. These days, Kim’s life looks very different: she’s married to her high school sweetheart, has kids, and grandkids. Kim somehow finds the time to crush 100-mile ultra races and run back-to-back marathons with her friend Becky Bokun.
