Ever wondered what is like to be passionate about both science and yoga?
Meet Abha:  Dr. Rajbhandari is an Assistant Professor in the departments of Psychiatry and Neuroscience at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Rajbhandari obtained her Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she studied the role of the amygdala sub-regions in the regulation of stress and sensorimotor gating. Dr. Rajbhandari did her postdoctoral work at the University of California-Los Angeles, where she studied fear and stress regulation via the amygdala. At the Icahn School of Medicine. Dr. Rajbhandari’s team focuses on the brain, vagus nerve, and body interactions and mechanisms of fear, stress, anxiety, and energy metabolism to understand how the body communicates with the brain in regulating these functions. Dr. Rajbhandari has also been a lifetime yoga practitioner since her childhood in Nepal. She teaches Yoga classes in her spare time. She is also passionate about the historical and spiritual aspects of Yoga and incorporates those in her teachings. For her path of yoga is both scientific and spiritual.
