Listen "A story of IVF and baking biscuits of support"
Episode Synopsis
Meet Caroline Caroline is my latest 'Meet the Maker' guest who created gorgeous biscuits and is also still working out what is going to happen next on her route to parenthood. Caroline and I met on Insta and have since met in person, at The Fertility Show where you can see her in the pic above as she was a brilliant guest on my panel at the 'Let's Talk Fertility stage, talking about the Importance of Support. Caroline shared her story so far with me. After one round of IVF on the NHS, which sadly failed, Caroline and her Hubby went to Serem in Greece. They had another round of IVF and fell pregnant, but at the nine-week sadly found out that they had lost their baby. After waiting three weeks for a natural miscarriage with medical management which didn't work, Caroline had to go back in and have an operationLimbo Land They went straight into another round straight after which didn’t work which was almost two years ago and now they have two embryos in Athens and are trying to figure out when is the right time for treatment. Caroline and I spoke about 'Limbo Land' feeling like a safe place as she said 'whilst they’re there they might be my babies'Caroline described having treatment overseas as being amazing but not as easy as it involves going away for periods of time and then arranging to have scanned in the UK and the couple lives in quite a rural place. I asked whether she felt she had given herself enough time to grieve and process and Caroline spoke about throwing herself into her work creating biscuits, which has become an incredible element of her support. The infertility focus came after Caroline was asked to create the following messages on biscuits for a friend:You are BraveYou are StrongYou are BeautifulYou are EnoughYou are not AloneYou are LovedWhilst she created biscuits for a wide range of celebrations it's the #TTC community that has captured Caroline's heart.
