Listen "Iran History and U.S. Relations Part I"
Episode Synopsis
On Mondays in March Brattleboro Solidarity will be facilitating a study group on Iran. We will learn about Iran’s history and culture, U.S.-Iranian relations, and how to resist war against Iran. What do you think of when you think of Iran? Khomeini? Hostages? Oppressed women in chadors? Too often, in the U.S. media events in Iran are ahistorical and decontextualized. These tropes about Iran that are at the forefront of our minds makes it easier for people in the U.S. to blindly support going to war with Iran. In this show we will briefly go over some of the topics to be un-covered in the study group: history, Western narrative of the Middle East, culture, and current events
