Listen "A Lament For Our Time (Lam 1)"
Episode Synopsis
In this sermon, we attempt to define lament and its relevance for the season of Lent. Lament is prayer in pain on the path to praise. We see in Lamentations 1, the weeping prophet's painful lament over the destruction of Jerusalem and the consequence of sin and the resulting brokenness, judgment, and utter devastation it wrought in Jeremiah's world and by extension, our world. But while God's judgment over sin is great, his mercy in and through Jesus Christ, is great still. Because of Jesus, God's mercy for us triumphs over judgment.
