Episode Synopsis "Longline: Deep Signals"
This is not a new episode of the Iditapod, and actually this has pretty much nothing to do with dog mushing. But we wanted to share a different podcast we think you'll like, done by Iditapodsters Ben Matheson and Zachariah Hughes, along with Emily Kwong of KCAW in Sitka and Vikram Patel,a producers of the Arctic Entries story-telling series in Anchorage. It's the first episode of podcast called Longline, which is about human stories from the wilds of Alaska. The crew has been working on it a long time. This first episode is about remote military radar stations scattered all around the state, where small crews of just three or four people work for months at a time. We've got another episode in the works, about an eccentric veterinarian on an island in Southeast Alaska, which should be done in a few weeks. But for now, check out this first story. It's about a half-hour long, and we think you'll like it.
