Listen "Diploma Programme assessment explained"
Episode Synopsis
Send us a textAssessment in the Diploma Programme is a combination of multiple measures of a student's progress and capabilities over the entire course of study. Most courses include a final examination but many do not. All have some form of internal assessment conducted during the course. These internal assessments may be laboratory investigations, research projects, or text analyses. Many courses have oral commentaries conducted, recorded and uploaded by the IB teacher. With all these different means to assess Diploma Programme students, a single number score represents much more than just how well they can perform on a written exam.Mike Cassidy, a Diploma Programme coordinator, Film and TOK teacher, and a Film examiner, helps us better understand the multi-modal DP assessment system.Links to Diploma Programme assessment and exam information.Explore Cambridge University Press support for IBDP teachers and learners at http://ibdiploma.cambridge.org/ US Listeners of the IB Matters podcast can take 25% off their next order of IBDP materials from Cambridge University Press by emailing [email protected] and quoting the discount code POD25.Email IB Matters: [email protected] (IB_Matters) Twitter @MattersIBIB Matters websiteMN Association of IB World Schools (MNIB) websiteDonate to IB Matters Podcast: Education by Design with host Phil Evans IB Matters T-shirts (and other MNIB clothing) To appear on the podcast or if you would like to sponsor the podcast, please contact us at the email above.
