Episode Synopsis

We are fuxing with the Sisterhood today. Back in these here parts, and re-adjusting to life where my Blackness is always on display. The journey was indeed an epic one and brought into relief the universality of the experiences of the Black Woman, regardless of where she calls home and whether she bears the title "Uppity Black Woman" (as defined by me)(#ubw). We revisit a bond formed with another Sister while in Ghana. To the untrained eye, the similarities between us appear to be solely the label of Black Woman, however, to the trained eye, one that has worn the cloak of Black Womanhood, knows that me and her are exactly the same - our stories are just a bit different. The Black Woman holds deep dreams and desires that require fulfillment. We locate our sameness in the struggle to fulfill those dreams while we navigate a world that trains all to hate everything Black and Female. When we bond in the Sisterhood and actively acknowledge our similarities, the things that we can do.
