Our world hit a milestone in 2016—not one with the fanfare and excitement of launching the first satellite into space or landing on the moon, but a quiet and sobering one that is sending shock-waves through communities across the globe. Last year, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees announced that nearly 1 in 100 people around the world has been forcibly displaced from their homes. That's the highest percentage on record since the UN began keeping statistics in 1951.
