Go Light Your World – The Advent Movement Original by Kathy Troccoli Music by PraiseHymn Soundtrack The Advent movement’s worldwide revival Began in the early 19th century They studied the bible, longing for reform And expected Jesus’ soon return God’s word was a lamp unto their feet It was a light unto their path Then out of darkness came present truth So they took this light to warn the world They took this light to warn the world They studied the prophecies in the old and new And concluded the earth will be cleansed by fire But the mystery in Daniel was hid from their eyes Jesus’ second coming didn’t materialize Some candles dimmed and returned to darkness Others trimmed theirs and kept them bright They searched the scriptures for further light With their candles trimmed and shining bright With their candles trimmed and shining bright The movement suffered Great Disappointment, But a small group restudied the prophecies, Then they discovered the sanctuary in heaven, And saw their Hight Priest beyond the veil. It wasn’t God’s will to veil Christ’s coming Into the Holiest of heaven’s temple But it was done to test and purify So, His people can come forth as gold. Carry your candle, run to the darkness Seek out the hopeless, confused and torn Hold out your candle and shine God’s truths Take your candle, go light your world Take your candle, go Light your world.
