Sri Lanka's Air Force Commander, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa confirmed that the air force will start commercial manufacturing of drones by next year as an alternative method to bring in more revenue to the country.
He further said that the force has collaborated with the Arthur C Clark Institute and the University of Moratuwa to further develop its Unmanned Aerial vehicles, manufactured by the Research and Development Department of the Air Force.
Speaking to Indeewari Amuwatte during our current affairs programme 'At Hyde Park' on Ada Derana 24, the Air Force Chief discussed future plans and the way forward for the Air force as the air force plans to adapt more technology to defend Sri Lanka's air space, while reducing ground troops.
