EU Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Denis Chaibi says that the bloc will take up Sri Lanka’s imports’ restrictions with the World Trade Organisation in Geneva, as it is unfair for EU exporters, even though the island is experiencing its share of Forex troubles.
Speaking to Indeewari Amuwatte on our current affairs programme At HydePark on Ada Derana 24, Chaibi noted that the point where the two sides’ opinion differs is the interpretation of the rules, with the EU adamant that the island should follow the due process by informing the WTO of its forex crisis, while Sri Lanka’s interpretation being to the contrary.
