EDB Chief Dr. Kingsley Bernard pointed out that Sri Lanka is opening up new market opportunities for exporters through free trade agreements and Comprehensive trade agreements as Sri Lanka aims to achieve export hub status.

Dr. Bernard said the Export Development Board is in the process of developing the Sri Lankan brand identity globally to access news markets.

Also speaking to Indeewari Amuwatte, President of the Coconut Milk Manufacturers’ Association Randeewa Malalasooriya said, Sri Lanka must look at re-exporting value added products in the short-term while looking at improving productivity of local coconut crop, paving the way to doubling coconut export revenue to around US$ 1.5 billion per annum.
