Governor of the Central Bank Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe is confident that Sri Lanka will be able to achieve debt sustainability even before the timeframe envisaged through the IMF EFF programme.
Speaking to Indeewari Amuwatte ‘At HydePark’ on Ada Derana 24, the governor termed the reform agenda “a new era for Sri Lanka”, given that proactive steps have been taken to implement unpopular reforms required by the IMF.
Dr. Weerasinghe nevertheless reassured that the situation in the country will get better over the coming months given that the government will only have the option of easing some of the toughest policies that have been taken in the recent past.
