On Friday, Union minister Smriti Irani castigated Billionaire Philanthropist George Soros' comments as meant to “weaken Indian democracy”. Going even further, she characterised Soros as having “imperialistic designs”. “India has defeated videshi taaqat – foreign forces – before and shall do so again,” she said in Hindi. This wasn’t a one-off. On Saturday, the foreign minister chimed in with a very similar angle. BJP, the ruling party has often blamed ""Foreign Hand"" and International Conspiracy to shield itself from the criticism back home.
