Listen "Photographer Park Jung Keun - Part. 2"
Episode Synopsis
He came to Jeju Island in 2013 and initially planned to stay for one or two years, but now he's in his tenth year on the Island. The haenyeo series, which he thought would be completed within a year, showed no signs of ending, and it led him to plan a new project, meeting the elders who experienced the Jeju April 3rd Incident. Listening and working with an open heart, he meticulously records the challenging life journeys of Jeju's elders. While his academic background is in photography, the uniqueness lies in the fact that the outcome is not just photographs. He captures the stories of haenyeo, creating videos of the underwater world they describe, and planned a web page with GPS coordinates for a real-life experience of Jeju's sea. Engaged in various projects and exhibitions depicting the stories of Jeju's people, he is simultaneously contemplating his next work. At the core of these diverse projects is his warm perspective on ordinary people around us.
