In this episode Melissa talks about the challenges and rewards of becoming a female officer in a predominantly male occupation in the early 90’s, life after retirement, dealing with traumatic calls throughout her career, the importance of first impressions in the job, the juvenile system in this country, what it was like being a school resource officer, court security, code enforcement, and a dispatcher , having someone to talk to when you have a bad call or bad day, finding positives in a cynical career, calling for agencies across the country to have incentives for retirees to come back to their departments, and the struggle of finding insurance benefits once retired!
