I speak to Alice Thompson - a mum & a career minded professional who took her employer to court over discrimination as her flexible working request was turned down with no tangible reasons or grounds of rejection. Alice returned to work after her Maternity leave with no room to balance her life as a mum and her career. Alice now runs her own successful firm but is also working to help other mums in similar situations. While Alice's news hit major headlines with the likes of BBC, LBC, 5LIVE Radio, This Morning, ITV and MORE - what none of these outlets covered was the responsibilities of the employer and what the employee can do to protect themselves. I was shocked to read some of the legal case documents from her tribunal and how her (now) ex-employer and its legal team failed to highlight the most basic HR protocols that could have, and would have, saved both parties from such an excruciating ordeal.
