We have to dive deep, fast, and be vulnerable to create a community as an expat. Even if you aren’t an expat, it can feel difficult to find and create community where you live. In this interview, Denise from Taking Route explains that there are a lot of reasons to be worried about making friends but we need to risk being rejected in order to create community. She shares her own experiences as an expat, who had to take the risk of being rejected in order to make lasting friendships. She encourages you to look for people where you wouldn’t normally look, and find people who are different from you.
