Listen "Bystander or Upstander?"
Episode Synopsis
Send us a textThis week, I’m diving into how even the smallest actions can have a powerful impact on raising kids who stand up for others—future upstanders! I’ll share three practical tips that’ll make a difference:Idea 1: Teach Empathy Through Open ConversationsStart by reading books or watching shows that spark empathy discussions. Ask questions like, “How do you think that person felt?” Building empathy early helps kids understand when it’s time to step in.Idea 2: Role-Play Real-Life ScenariosPractice different situations with your kids to boost their confidence in responding to unkindness. For example, if someone’s being teased, what would they do? Role-playing empowers them to make kind, wise decisions in the moment.Idea 3: Recognize Upstanding MomentsWhen you see your child standing up for others, offer positive reinforcement! This will build their confidence in acting again.Upstanding starts at home and can shape a kinder, more compassionate world. Join me as I share these insights—together, let’s raise upstanders!Links mentioned in this episode:Common Sense Media - Books on Empathy
