Thyatira is quite possibly the most alarming of all the churches. It is the most insignificant city of the seven cities in Asia Minor, yet they get the most attention from our Lord.This church had bent their ear to the lie that you can love someone without truth, but love without truth isn’t love. It’s infatuation. Thyatira had love, but no conviction for truth, so they became tolerant of deception. “But I have this against you, that you tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and is teaching and seducing my servants to practice sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols.”Revelation 2:20 ESV Tolerating compromise in the name unity will bring the whole body down.We must remember, as we seek to advance the Gospel of Jesus across the earth, that the highest form of love is not agreement, but truth.
