Listen "Decoding Jesus - A Tale of Two Faiths"
Episode Synopsis
Today we consider 4 contrasts between a genuine saving faith and a faith that is something less. In John 4, the Apostle John contrasts the faith of the Samaritans who believed Jesus and the faith of the Galileans who wanted a sign. One group wanted salvation; the other group wanted ‘action’ or ‘entertainment’ or ‘a thrill.’ As the royal official begins, spiritually in the camp of the Galileans (wanting a sign) as he pleaded for his son’s healing we see him ‘end up in the camp of the Samaritans, with a simple, saving faith that trusts. Often we confuse mental assent for genuine saving faith. The two are radically different things, as these narratives show.
