Listen "Serhiy Salov"
Episode Synopsis
Today we’re putting the Steinway to work. Award-winning concert pianist Serhiy Salov is here and (considering the repertoire he’s brought) there’s a good chance all 88 keys are going to be played! First we’ll hear a few etudes of Franz Liszt followed by a transcription of the Liebestod from “Tristan und Isolde.” And end with a rousing rendition (Serhiy’s own transcription) of the Funeral March and Immolation Scene from Richard Wagner’s “Götterdämmerung.”
Serhiy Salov is a First Grand Prize winner of The Montreal International Music Competition and a Silver Prize Winner of The Gina Bachauer International Artists Competition of Salt lake City. He’s recorded two CDs that have received wide acclaim: “Shostakovich’s Circle” and “The Sacred Spring of Slavs.” He’s been a featured soloist with the Berlin, Tokyo, Mexico and Montreal symphony orchestras, as well as the London Philharmonia Orchestra and the Royal philharmonic.
Special thanks to the Bachauer Competition for helping to arrange this performance.
