Listen "Jhonny K and the Arise Team"
Episode Synopsis
In studio we have musicians from ARISE, a multi-genre, multi-media campaign with themes of inspiration, hope and understanding, to educate and bring awareness about preventing suicide, bullying, and alleviating depression.
ARISE was founded by singer/songwriter Jhonny K, who worked as a troubled teen counselor and emotional health coach. He has performed for TEDX, 2012 and 2013, 2015 Sundance Film Festival, UPROAR Rock Festival, First Annual SLC Comic Con, Radio Disney, Chic Fila Leadership Cast, and many more events. He is currently the musical director of the ARISE program and organization.
“We are all about creating awareness around this issue, helping people be more open to talk about their darkness, and stop the problems that so many silently suffer from. ARISE is not a counseling or therapy, we are an organization who wants to help bring awareness around depression and suicide issues through music and media.” –Jhonny K
In studio they discuss with host Steven Kapp Perry their personal convictions and experiences, and share their advice and love for those who have struggled or are currently struggling with depression, bullying, or suicidal thoughts.
Performers: Jhonny K, Rock (guitar, vocals); Jodi Lee, Country (vocals); Preston Lee, Hip-Hop (vocals); Mallory Ownbee, Pop (vocals); Lee Sebel (piano); Jason Jones (percussion);
