Listen "Over-Empathy, Emotional Burnout, and the Need to Be Seen"
Episode Synopsis
Hey there friend! Lately I've been reflecting on how much of my energy has been wrapped up in trying to keep people comfortable, especially through over-empathy and emotional caretaking. In this episode, I'm unpacking what that looks like in real life, how it's connected to the nervous system, and why so many of us feel burnt out even when we're trying to "do the right thing." I also talk about what it means to get easily offended, the difference between empathy and sympathy, and how to check in with what people actually need instead of defaulting to emotional shape-shifting.
