Listen "Freya - Goddess of Gold & Fire"
Episode Synopsis
Freya is not a goddess who can be contained. She is beauty and battle, silk and steel, grief and golden desire. In this episode, we step into her meadow of myths where amber tears fall into the sea, falcon wings carry her between worlds, and a necklace forged in fire becomes a symbol of sovereignty. We’ll wander through her stories: the Brísingamen, the cat-drawn chariot, the meadow of Fólkvangr, and her role as the first witch of the Norse, teaching Odin himself the dangerous art of seiðr. Along the way, we’ll explore the contradictions that made skalds fear her and that make modern witches and feminists reclaim her as radiant, ruthless, and unashamed. This is an invocation of Freya: goddess of love and longing, mistress of magic and mourning, sovereign of desire. She reminds us that beauty is not weakness, that grief can glitter into power, and that we, too, are never “too much” to be holyHex & Muse is recorded on the lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation.
