It is easy to love people we like–and people who like us! People who we understand. People we have things in common with. People we enjoy being around. It’s much more difficult to love those who seem unkind. Someone who has hurt us in the past or continues to do and say hurtful things. Someone who is so different that we have difficulty relating to them or understanding them. Someone who has different views than we do. In Matthew 5:43-48, Jesus gives us some instruction on how to love our "enemies" and none of them come naturally or easily.
