Listen "Loving Every Season with Amanda Barker"
Episode Synopsis
Welcome back to HerLayered Life! In today’s episode, I’m slowing down to talk about something close to my heart: our layers and our seasons—and learning to truly love the season we’re in, even when it’s messy, unexpected, or completely different from what we imagined.I dive into what “layers” really are—our family, relationships, friendships, work, business, faith, personal growth, passions, struggles, and even heartbreaks. Each layer has its own color, dimension, and importance, and they all interact in unique ways throughout our lives. I share how my own layers shift depending on my priorities—family, business, basketball season—and how learning to navigate these changes with grace can make all the difference. We also explore the seasons of life, especially as women. From motherhood to career shifts, our seasons shape our experiences and influence how we show up in the world. I share personal stories about motherhood, friendships, and balancing multiple responsibilities, and how comparison can be one of the biggest traps we fall into when we fail to honor our own season. One principle I love is shifting from competition to creation. Instead of looking at another woman’s success and feeling less than, I encourage us to see her success as proof—and permission—that we can create the life we desire. God’s blessings are infinite, and seeing someone else flourish doesn’t take away from our own journey; it’s a reminder that we too can thrive if we make the choices and sacrifices necessary to pursue our goals. We also talk about flow versus balance, and how tools, systems, and support—like family, nannies, or team structures—can help us navigate life’s layers more effectively. I share how athletics, especially team sports, teach girls and women essential skills: celebrating others, collaborating, and showing up in a way that lifts everyone. Finally, I give five practical ways to live your layers fully:Name your season—recognize it without labeling it as good or bad.Nurture your layers—prioritize what’s important to you and give it consistent attention.Speak kindness over your current layer—both yours and others’.Invite God into your layers—trust that He can magnify your season and guide your growth.Shift from comparison to creation—use inspiration to fuel your own journey, not diminish it.Every season matters, even the hidden ones. Every layer matters, even the ones that feel invisible. And when women support each other intentionally, we rise together.
