Rabbi-Cantor Nancy Landsman is a graduate of NIU (Social Work/Gerontology). In her senior year of college, her own synagogue hired her to serve as their cantorial soloist for one year, which resulted in an amazing cantorial career of 33 years before beginning her rabbinic studies in 2012. Also in 2012, Congregation Ahavat Olam (a reform congregation) was formed with Nancy as their spiritual leader. Rabbi-Cantor Nancy Landsman was ordained as Rabbi in 2016. Returning to her love for seniors and helping people, she also took courses in CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) and has been volunteering weekly at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital as a chaplain for the past 10 years. Rabbi Nancy Also does weekly hospice volunteer work for JourneyCare.Throughout the Chicagoland area, she has been called Rabbi Nancy, and known as “Your Personal Rabbi.” Rabbi Nancy is in high demand - she officiates over 100 funerals a year, countless B’nai Mitzvah private services and weddings (including interfaith and same sex ceremonies).
